Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott will miss Sugar Bowl vs. Ohio State due to coronavirus protocols


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is well aware of the effects of the coronavirus, having had three of its last six games canceled and playing its last two without multiple players and coaches. Clemson, the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff semifinal opponent, will also be affected by COVID-19 for Friday’s game. Clemson announced offensive coordinator Tony Elliott will not accompany the team to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl due to COVID-19 protocols. Elliott, who is also the Tigers’ running backs coach, has been co-offensive coordinator under Dabo Swinney since 2015 before taking over the title in full this season. Elliott played wide receiver at Clemson and has been on the coaching staff since 2011. The Tigers rank among the national leaders in scoring offense (third), passing offense (seventh) and total offense (10th).
