Clemson’s James Skalski ejected from Sugar Bowl for targeting offering Ohio State football the perfect poetic justice for Shaun Wade


NEW ORLEANS — For the second consecutive year, Clemson linebacker has been ejected from a College Football Playoff game in the Super Dome. Skalski was ejected after a hit late in the second quarter on Justin Fields. Fields was replaced by C.J. Stroud for one play before returning to the game and completing a nine-yard touchdown to Chris Olave. The ejection mirrors what the Buckeyes went through last season in the Fiesta Bowl when Shaun Wade was ejected for a hit on Trevor Lawrence. That was the last play of the season for Wade as the Buckeyes lost 29-23. This year’s rematch puts Skalski in a similar scenario with Ohio State holding a 28-14 lead.
