Ohio State football’s Master Teague unavailable for Sugar Bowl, putting Trey Sermon back in spotlight


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s Trey Sermon will have ample opportunity to follow up on his record-setting rushing performance when the Buckeyes play Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. Running back Master Teague was among the players listed as inactive for Friday’s College Football Playoff semifinal. Sermon will be the lead back and command the lion’s share of runs that quarterback Justin Fields does not keep for himself. Teague apparently suffered an unspecified injury on the opening drive of the Big Ten championship game against Northwestern. The Buckeyes’ starting running back carried twice for 23 yards and gained 8 yards on one reception. Teague left the game and did not re-enter, though he remained on the sidelines.
