Ohio State’s Justin Fields on rib injury: ‘Even throwing 10 yards, it hurt’


Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields said after Friday night’s Sugar Bowl he hadn’t yet received a complete diagnosis on the rib injury he suffered in the first half vs. Clemson. Fields missed only one play after taking a hard shot from Tigers linebacker James Skalski, a hit that resulted in Skalski getting ejected for targeting. Fields completed 22 of 28 passes for 385 yards and six touchdowns in a 49-28 victory that put the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game vs. Alabama on Jan. 11. “Even throwing 10 yards, it would hurt,” Fields said, via Ross Dellenger of SI.com. “It’s the game of football we play.
