Ohio State’s most important defensive player does not easily lapse into hyperbole. Haskell Garrett has been through drama in the past few months that preclude it. You may recall that the Buckeyes’ surprise first-team All-America defensive tackle was shot through both cheeks apparently attempting to quell a domestic disturbance on the street in Columbus between a couple he did not know. Yet, seven weeks later, there he was recovered and starting the season. Since then, he’s been part of a defensive line that was not anticipated to be anything special but has turned out to be the best unit of an OSU resistance that’s helped drive it to tonight’s College Football Playoff championship game against Alabama in Miami.
