Ohio State and Alabama will square off for a national championship on Monday night. Alabama’s resume this season is more impressive than Ohio State’s, but the Buckeyes’ performance against Notre Dame in the semifinals quelled any doubts about it being in the playoff having played just five regular-season games plus the Big Ten championship. While No. 3 Ohio State (7-0) beat No. 2 Clemson 49-28 in the semis, No. 1 Alabama (12-0) also rolled in its matchup, downing No. 4 Notre Dame 31-14. Both teams also are loaded with future NFL talent. Alabama had three of the five Heisman Trophy finalists, as quarterback Mac Jones and running back Najee Harris joined winner Devonta Smith, a receiver, in the elite group.
