Former Ohio State football player Rudy Hubbard to be part of the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame class


MIAMI — Former Ohio State football player and assistant coach Rudy Hubbard will to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class. Hubbard is among the 13 people. in the 2021 class. In 1968, he became the first black assistant coach in OSU history when he joined Woody Hayes’ staff. He spent six years on the staff helping the Buckeyes to national championships in 1968 and 1970. His tenure followed a three-year career as an OSU running back. The Hubbard, Ohio native’s induction is a result of his 12 years as the head coach at Florida A&M, compiling a 83-48-3 record. In 1978, he led the Rattlers as they became the first Historically Black College and University to win a Division I-AA national championship.
