The Buckeyes play Alabama in the College Football Playoff national championship game at 8:15 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium. Ohio State (7-0) overcame a season shortened by the Big Ten Conference, three game cancellations and continuous roster issues to play in Monday’s game. It advanced with a 49-28 victory over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl playoff semifinal. Alabama (12-0) spent much of the season ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll. The Crimson Tide advanced with a 31-14 victory over Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl playoff semifinal.
