COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State coach Ryan Day believed his two freshman quarterbacks could learn a lot simply from watching Justin Fields during the 2020 season. Now that Fields has officially declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, we may soon find out exactly how much those freshmen absorbed from him. Holdover freshmen CJ Stroud and Jack Miller will vie with incoming freshman Kyle McCord to start for the Buckeyes in 2021. None of them has thrown a pass in a college game, and Stroud and Miller saw modest mop-up time in 2020. Stroud clearly had the edge on Miller on the depth chart late in the season. When Fields needed to briefly leave both the Michigan State game and the playoff semifinal against Clemson, Stroud entered and took a snap in his place.
