
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football caught a glimpse of what its 2021 defense might look like without Tommy Togiai. To be fair, Togiai’s presence alone would not have flipped the outcome of the national championship game loss to Alabama. But the Buckeyes missed the battering ram he provided in the middle of the defense. With Togiai moving on the 2021 NFL Draft, Ohio State faces some of that same uncertainty in the middle of its defense this offseason. Fellow defensive tackle Haskell Garrett has not yet announced his intentions. He and other 2020 seniors — including defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson — have until March 1 to announce whether they will take advantage of the NCAA rule providing them an extra year of eligibility due to the coronavirus pandemic.
