COLUMBUS, Ohio — The NCAA is thinking about bringing the year-long recruiting dead period to an end, according to Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel. The idea would be to replace the harsh restrictions with a more relaxed approach known as a “quiet period” from April 16-June 30. These new guidelines would allow coaches to have face-to-face interaction with a player as long as they are on campus. The good news with this is allowing players to finally visit schools again — something they haven’t been able to do in over a year, and have had no problem voicing their frustrations about. Ohio State football didn’t need a typical recruiting cycle to put together the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, topped only by Alabama’s historic class in 2021.
