Michigan State’s woes continue in 17-point loss to Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Michigan State had only one direction to go after a 30-point loss to Rutgers three days ago. It indeed went up. Just not nearly high enough. The Spartans fell to No. 13 Ohio State, 79-62, on Sunday at Value City Arena to mark their third straight loss. The loss drops the Spartans to 8-6 overall and 2-6 in Big Ten, making their prospects of making a 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament even more precarious. A team that has scuttled through most of Big Ten play continued to seek a spark to its offense and failed to find one. As Tom Izzo ran through a host of lineup combinations, Michigan State didn’t go on a run of more than four consecutive points until eight minutes remained and they trailed by 20.
