Ohio State football players can finally live out a childhood dream as the NCAA Football video game returns


COLUMBUS, Ohio — One of the main reasons kids dream of playing college football is to one day play as themselves on a video game. That option was taken away from them seven years ago when EA Sports’ NCAA Football video games series was canceled. The final version of the classic game came out July 9, 2013 when former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson graced the cover. Because players are amateurs, the cover athlete had typically featured a player whose career wrapped up the season before, none of which were ever Ohio State football players. Everything about a player would be in the game other than his actual name; instead, players were referenced by their number, though often you could download created rosters online where someone had gone in and added the names.
