Ohio State football 2021 opponent Oregon losing starting quarterback Tyler Shough to transfer portal


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Oregon will visit Ohio State football on Sept. 11 with one fewer proven option at quarterback. Tyler Shough, the Ducks’ starter in all seven games last season, announced Friday he will enter the transfer portal. Shough’s play regressed over the course of last season, his first as Oregon’s starter. He started the Fiesta Bowl but was replaced for much of it by Anthony Brown. The former Boston College transfer now becomes the Ducks’ presumptive starter in Shough’s absence. Oregon’s visit to Columbus in the second game of the season comes as part of an intriguing opening-season stretch for Ohio State. The Buckeyes open the season at Minnesota, then play Oregon, Tulsa and Akron at home before resuming Big Ten play at Rutgers. Ohio State and Oregon are ranked 4-5 in ESPN”s preseason SP+ rankings.
