COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball’s already had a small margin of error if it wanted to win its first regular-season Big Ten title since 2012. The Buckeyes’ 12-4 conference record put them a game behind Michigan, with the Wolverines set to come to Columbus for a top-five matchup. They couldn’t afford a loss to a team with a 10-1 Big Ten record and in the middle of making up a handful of postponed games. OSU’s 92-87 loss to Michigan means it’s probably not going to win an outright regular-season championship. Too many things would have to go right for that to happen. To do so would require the Wolverines to lose four of its final five games. That would include losses to Illinois and Iowa, who would then need to lose the other remaining games on its schedule.
