COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four-star 2022 outside linebacker Malaki Hamrick of Shelby High School in North Carolina has decided to stay home. In a recruitment that reportedly came down to North Carolina and Ohio State football, the 6-foot-4, 205 pound Hamrick chose the Tarheel Blue over Ohio State’s championship pedigree and an alluring chance to be coached by Larry Johnson. Hamrick made the announcement on his Twitter account Friday afternoon, hours before the Shelby Golden Lions opened their season against East Gaston. Hamrick tallied 19 sacks in his sophomore season, including 129 tackles, and 39 tackles for loss. He is the nation’s No. 150 overall player and the No. 12 outside linebacker, according to the 247sports.com composite rankings.
