Baseball: Ohio State begins season Friday

After the vast majority of the college baseball season got canceled in 2020, it is time for some hardball again. The Ohio State baseball team will begin its 2021 season on Friday against Illinois in Greenville, S.C., as part of a four-game series. The Buckeyes were picked to finish third in the Big Ten preseason poll, behind Michigan and Indiana. Illinois is picked to finish sixth. Ohio State will be led this season by the pitching trio of Seth Lonsway, Garrett Burhenn and TJ Brock, who were all named to the preseason All-Big Ten team. The Buckeyes’ offense will be led by shortstop/third baseman Zach Dezenzo and first baseman Conner Pohl. Ohio State fourth-year junior pitcher Seth Lonsway is a strikeout machine.
