Ohio State basketball advances to Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal following 79-75 win over Minnesota


INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio State basketball will advance to the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal following a second-round win over Minnesota in a 79-75 game that ended up being much closer than it should’ve been. The Buckeyes started the game showing why they were the clearly more talented team on paper by getting out to a 13-0 lead, while the Golden Gophers didn’t score their first points until seven minutes into the contest. Though Minnesota would eventually work its way back into the game with the help of some missed free throws and turnovers by OSU, it never got any closer than 21-17 with 5:05 left to play. Ohio State showed signs of the efficient shooting team it was up until the last two weeks of the regular season. It shot 55.2 percent from the field and 50.2 percent from three.
