COLUMBUS, Ohio — From the moment he took over as Ohio State football’s head coach, Ryan Day understood how important it was to keep the best talent within Ohio home. Any time the subject of recruiting has come up, he’s made it a point to discuss making sure the state’s borders stood firm. If there was an elite recruit who grew up in Ohio, he needed to be a Buckeye. “I said that was going to be an emphasis, and it is,” Day said in 2019. “That’s from when we wake up in the morning till we go to bed at night.
