Ohio State football commits and recruiting targets could soon visit again if NCAA lifts dead period


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The separation caused by the coronavirus pandemic added a new wrinkle for Ohio State football’s early enrolling freshmen in January. The first time coach Ryan Day saw defensive tackle Tyleik Williams on campus was the first time he had seen him in person — anywhere. The NCAA’s ongoing dead period — instituted shortly after COVID-19 began churning through the country and is sports landscape — had prevented coaches from going to meet their commits or those players from visiting the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Several players and their families have been outspoken about their frustration with the indefinite dead period.
