THORNVILLE – Big plans for a major development are in the works in the Thornville area and additional spots around the old canal lake. However, any future projects around Buckeye Lake are tied directly to the quality of its water. Nobody is more cognizant of this than the Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow (BLT) volunteers who have dedicated decades of effort to improving the lake’s water quality. Recently Matt Baumann, president of BLT, outlined the group’s upcoming efforts to boost water quality at Buckeye Lake, including the elimination of the blue-green algae blooms that have plagued the lake for the last several years. “The fishermen will love this project,” Baumann predicted, as he described the installation of two aeration systems set to be placed in two canals.
