COLUMBUS, Ohio — The six Ohio State running backs battling for position on the depth chart possess many physical and mental virtues. Running backs coach Tony Alford hopes patience is not among them. Alford, a running back himself at Colorado State who admits patience does not suit him, said the best Buckeye backs he has coached did not wait their turn. When J.K. Dobbins arrived in 2017, he demanded snaps with his play. “They’re not patient by nature,” Alford said. “I don’t want them to be patient, or they’re not going to take a job. “So show me, show the staff, that we have to play you — that I don’t have a choice but to play you because you are by far the best guy we’ve got.” A year ago at this time, Ohio State had one healthy scholarship running back in spring camp — current sophomore Steele Chambers.…
