COLUMBUS, Ohio — As eager as Oho State football fans may be to learn the identity of their next quarterback, coach Ryan Day feels no reason to rush the evaluation. More importantly, he wants Jack Miller, C.J. Stroud and Kyle McCord to know they are running a marathon, not a sprint, to determine Justin Fields’ successor. Day said Monday the decision on Ohio State’s next starting quarterback — easily the biggest in his three years as Buckeyes coach — could run up to the start of the season. He said all three quarterbacks look good when throwing passes against air in practice.
