Ohio State football’s Justin Fields runs elite 40-yard dash time for quarterbacks at Buckeyes’ Pro Day


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields fell short of his goal of running a 40-yard dash in under 4.4 seconds — and still turned in a rare performance for his position. Running at Ohio State’s Pro Day on Tuesday, Fields was clocked at 4.44 seconds in the 40-yard dash per multiple reports. A report from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer said one NFL scout actually timed Fields at 4.43 seconds. According to college football reference, no quarterback has run a lower time at the NFL Scouting Combine since Baylor’s Robert Griffin III ran 4.33 in 2012. Only 24 total players ran the 40 under 4.45 seconds at the 2020 combine. All but one were receivers, running backs or defensive backs.
