Ohio State signee Malaki Branham named 2021 Ohio's Mr. Basketball

The best high school basketball player in the state of Ohio will play for the Buckeyes starting next year. Guard Malaki Branham out of Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary was named the 2021 winner of Ohio’s Mr. Basketball on Wednesday by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. Branham is a four-star, top-30 prospect in the 2021 recruiting class and the country’s sixth-best shooting guard according to the 247Sports Composite. He led the Fighting Irish to its ninth state championship this season with a 37-point performance in the final game. Branham will be the 11th player to win the award and then suit up for Ohio State, joining Jimmy Jackson, Greg Simpson, Damon Stringer, Tony Stockman, Jamar Butler, Jon Diebler, William Buford, Jared Sullinger, Marc Loving and Kaleb Wesson.
