
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A sigh of relief could be in sight for the 2022 last line of defense. A trio of Ohio State safety targets have inched closer to becoming Buckeyes. Las Vegas Bishop Gorman’s Zion Branch, Southeast Polk (Altoona, Iowa) High School’s Xavier Nwankpa and Buford (Georgia) High School’s Jake Pope each have increased their interest in their own ways. Branch (6-2.5, 190 pounds), the No. 3 safety in the class, announced on Twitter that he will officially visit Ohio State June 4-6. That weekend has become perhaps the most important in the 2022 recruiting circuit. With the help of two OSU commits in CJ Hicks and Dasan McCullough, Buckeye Bash 2.0 — an orchestrated gathering of Buckeye commits and targets — is set for the weekend of Branch’s arrival.
