The black stripe tradition dates back to when Urban Meyer first came to Columbus. A freshman must wear a black stripe on the helmet until he has impressed the coaching staff enough for it to be removed. Henderson becomes the third Buckeyes freshman to have his black stripe removed, joining five-star defensive end Jack Sawyer and four-star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Ohio State is expecting big things out of Henderson in the backfield right away in 2021.
