
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Marvin Harrison Jr. made a strong first impression on Ohio State football coach Ryan Day when he showed up in January with amore defined physique. The freshman receiver made a strong second impression as well, and then a third. The son of the NFL Hall of Famer became the first freshman on offense to lose his black stripe this spring. In explaining why, Day barely referenced Harrison’s athleticism or physical skill. “A lot of discipline,” Day said. “Excellent attention to detail with his routes. Somebody who cares a lot. He’s in here after hours. He’s here early in the morning. He takes a lot of pride in his work, and he’s making plays.” In the portion of practice open to reporters on Monday, Harrison lined up with the second string offense, along with junior Jameson Williams outside and fellow true freshman Emeka Egbuka in the slot.
