COLUMBUS, Ohio — One of the main reasons why the secondary of the Ohio State football team struggled last season was a lack of options. It’s hard to find people to trust underclassmen you’re hoping to rely on for depth when they couldn’t get the necessary development because of a global pandemic. The lack of a spring and a season that produced just eight games is why guys like Lejond Cavazos, Cameron Martinez, Lathan Ransom and Ryan Watts didn’t have much of a role last season. Even when some were called on to step up in meaningful moments, it wasn’t an ideal situation. Defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs shouldn’t have that problem this season.
