Former Ohio State star Mike Conley wins Oscar for live-action short 'Two Distant Strangers'

Former Ohio State star Mike Conley can add Oscar winner to his professional résumé.  The Utah Jazz guard and Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant served as executive producers for “Two Distant Strangers,” which won the Academy Award on Sunday night for best live-action short. The film written by Travon Free, who also co-directed with Martin Desmond Roe, tells the story of a Black man, played by rapper and actor Joey Bada$$, who gets stuck in a time loop re-living a deadly run-in with a police officer. “Two Distant Strangers” is currently available to stream on Netflix. Durant and Conley were among the numerous executive producers who worked on the film with producer Lawrence Bender, who has three previous Oscar nominations for best picture: “Pulp Fiction” in 1995, “Good Will Hunting” in 1998 and “Inglourious Basterds” in 2010.
