Ohio State point guard verbal Thornton shines on statewide, national stages

INDIANAPOLIS — Opinions seem to differ on Ohio State 2022 basketball commitment Bruce Thornton. Thornton, a 6-2 point guard, is ranked as the nation’s No. 59 prospect overall and No. 11 point guard for 2022, according to the 247Sports Composite. Some eyebrows were raised this past week as Thornton was not included, however, in ESPN’s list of the nation’s top 100 prospects for 2022. It was a remarkable oversight because MaxPreps, the national high school website, had just named Thornton as a first-team Junior All-American pick. He helped Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton claim the Class 7A state championship. Thornton was the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Class 7A Player of the Year as he averaged 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds per contest.
