Ohio State football 2021 NFL Draft tracker: Justin Fields extends Buckeyes’ lead in first-round picks

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Justin Fields extended Ohio State football’s lead as the most prolific source of first-round NFL Draft talent. Fields became the 85th first-round pick in Buckeyes history when the Chicago Bears traded up to select him with the 11th pick in Thursday’s first round. Ohio State added a little cushion to its all-time lead over USC (82). Fields is the only Buckeye expected to be taken in Thursday’s opening round in Cleveland. The second, third and fourth rounds could be full of them, though. The 2019 draft marked the sixth time at least 10 Buckeyes were selected. They have had at least nine players picked in three of the last five drafts. Ohio State has eight seemingly secure draftees and a couple of other potential picks.
