Ohio State’s Justin Fields picked by Chicago Bears with No. 11 pick in NFL draft

Months-long speculation over the NFL draft status of former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields ended on Thursday night as he was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 11th overall pick. Chicago traded up from No. 20 to select Fields, who remained on the board after the top-10 had ended, where three other quarterbacks were taken. Until late last year, Fields had been projected as the second-best quarterback prospect in this class behind only Clemson star Trevor Lawrence, who is viewed as a generational talent and was taken first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars as long expected. Despite falling behind in the pecking order, Fields’ early selection is rare for a Buckeyes passer.
