Should Ohio State football change the way it recruits now that transfer freedom has arrived?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Every Ohio State football success in the transfer portal resulted from a failure elsewhere. When offensive line recruiting momentarily dipped, Jonah Jackson moved over from Rutgers. When Dwayne Haskins left after one breakout season and left the Buckeyes with no proven quarterback, Justin Fields swooped in from Georgia to save a playoff season. When an already thin running back room bottomed out with Master Teague’s injury, Trey Sermon slid over from Oklahoma. Ohio State so frequently filled its biggest needs via the transfer portal that fans came to expect it.
