
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football has notably ramped up the competition in its quarterback and receiver rooms under Ryan Day. Apparently that policy applies to special teams now, as well. For the next two seasons, Ohio State expects to use two of its 85 scholarships on placekickers. Former North Carolina leading scorer Noah Ruggles on Wednesday committed to the Buckeyes as a graduate transfer with two seasons of eligibility remaining. The Buckeyes also return redshirt freshman Jake Seibert. He ended last season as the presumptive starter after shrugging off his grayshirt to fill in for an injured Blake Haubeil. That included kicking a field goal in the national championship game loss to Alabama. Seibert missed both of his field goal tries in the Spring Game, though.
