Ohio State pitcher Seth Lonsway taken by San Francisco Giants in 6th round of MLB Draft

Left-handed strikeout artist Seth Lonsway from Ohio State has been selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 6th round (pick No. 176 overall) in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft. In 33 starts during his career for the Buckeyes (2019-21), Lonsway was 12-11 with a 3.89 ERA and a WHIP of 1.374. In 178.1 innings, he struck out a whopping 266 batters. Control was Lonsway’s issue at OSU as he had 120 walks during his collegiate career. The signing bonus slot value for the No. 176 pick of the MLB is $281,800. Since Lonsway could return to Ohio State for another season, it’s likely the Giants will not low-ball him and he will sign for the slot value.
