Malaki Branham, a 2021 St. Vincent-St. Mary graduate, has been selected as the USA Today Ohio Male Athlete of the Year and the USA Today Ohio Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Branham is headed into his freshman season at Ohio State University and preparing to play basketball for the Buckeyes. Branham, a 6-foot-5 guard, was named Mr. Basketball in Ohio in 2021 after leading the Irish (25-2) to the Division II state title. Branham averaged 21.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a senior. He was named the Division II state Player of the Year, and scored 37 points in the state final win over Columbus St. Francis DeSales at the University of Dayton.
