
INDIANAPOLIS — Conference realignment is about as interesting as a trip to the chiropractor at this point, at least from a Big Ten perspective. Especially from an Ohio State perspective. Too many ooos, aah and words were wasted the last two times the Big Ten added teams, and the net effect on the best football team in the conference was zero. Nebraska, Maryland and Rutgers are Big Ten members and the Buckeyes are 19-1 against them in football, outscoring them 1,070 to 353, an average score of 54 to 17. And the loss occurred to Nebraska in 2011 when Ohio State was playing what should have been a third-string quarterback with accuracy issues in a chaotic year of NCAA fallout. Otherwise, expansion has been new opponents, same deal for the conference football power. So let’s not rush into slipping on our expansion pants and racing out into the new world…
