Why Ohio State likes the 12-team playoff proposal, except for one part: Doug Lesmerises


INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio State could fall on either side of the 12-team playoff discussion. As one of the four teams to make the playoff at least four times in its seven-year history, the Buckeyes could lean toward status quo and a world where they’ve reached the playoff 57 percent of the time, needing to win only two games to lift a trophy. On the other hand, no team has been just outside the playoff more often than the Buckeyes, who were No. 5 in 2017, No. 6 in 2018 and No. 7 in 2015 the three years they missed it.
