
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Julian Fleming walked into Ohio State football’s training room over the summer after being cleared for full contact post-surgery and experienced a revelation. Fleming showed up to be fitted with the brace that had restricted his range of motion throughout his freshman season. Instead, he was told he no longer needed it. For the first time since he arrived at Ohio State in January 2020, Fleming could turn it loose. “It’s definitely a new experience for me,” Fleming said Wednesday. “It’s been a long time coming. I feel good — 100% ready to go.” Fleming never looked like the nation’s No. 1 receiver recruit during his freshman season. He never felt like one, either. That traced back to the spring.
