C.J. Stroud earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors following Ohio State football’s season-opening win over Minnesota


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s C.J. Stroud has earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors following his starting quarterback debut. He is the first Buckeye to earn the honor since Tate Martell did so as a redshirt freshman in 2018. After getting off to a slow start, Stroud bounced back to finish a 45-31 win over Minnesota by completing 13 of 22 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns. His touchdown passes of 70, 61, 56 and 38 yards all came in the second half going to Chris Olave (twice) — who earned the Senior Bowl’s offensive player of the week honors — Garrett Wilson and freshman TreVeyon Henderson.
