COLUMBUS, Ohio — A teenage Chris Olave had a dream school — a program that intrigued him with its innovative head coach and high-octane, high-concept, high-scoring offense. Then Olave watched Ohio State football flatten that team, Oregon, in the national championship game after the 2014 season. Long before he made plays against Michigan as a freshman — long before Ohio State coach Ryan Day found him almost by accident on the recruiting trail — Olave was another west coast kid digging the Ducks. “I was definitely an Oregon fan,” said Olave, who rose from darkhorse prospect at San Marcos, California’s Mission Hills High School to first-round NFL Draft prospect. “I was going for Oregon, but Ohio State came in and kind of put their bang on.
