St. Ignatius alum Tommy Eichenberg earning Ohio State football’s respect — and a starting job


COLUMBUS, Ohio — St. Ignatius coach Chuck Kyle holds a memory of Tommy Eichenberg that belongs alongside those of the many NFL talents that preceded him through that program. He won’t disclose the name of the opponent. No need to embarrass anyone or rub it in. What Kyle saw from the eventual Ohio State football linebacker against what he described as a highly ranked opponent will stay with him “until my dying day.” “Very simply, he took that other team to the point where they no longer ran the ball,” Kyle said. “They started throwing the ball, and if the quarterback could run around get some yardage, fine.
