Ohio State football vs. Oregon game predictions: Can the Ducks contain the Buckeyes’ explosive offense?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The recruiting rankings say few teams on Ohio State football’s schedule can match the Buckeyes’ talent as well as Oregon. At the same time, the sports books say Ohio State is a 14.5-point favorite as Saturday’s kickoff approaches for the home opener at Ohio Stadium. That line may nudge even higher if Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux — considered by some the best defensive player in the country — cannot play due to the sprained ankle he sustained against Fresno State last week. Regardless of Thibodeaux’s status, the Buckeye Talk crew believes Ohio State will cover that spread in its home opener. The rest of Oregon’s defense did not inspire confidence that it can limit this OSU offense, and the Ducks’ offense likely does not have the power to keep up.
