Ohio State football scrambling for answers after 35-28 loss to Oregon


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day always knew this possibility existed — the day his team walked the tightrope of loss and could not right itself in time. The day came Saturday. The first regular-season loss of Day’s tenure came not by accident, or officiating whim, or by simply being out manned by a superior roster. No. 12 Oregon limited the No. 3 Buckeyes’ playmakers, carved up a unsettled defense and emerged with a 35-28 victory at Ohio Stadium. Day now faces his biggest in-season challenge in his three seasons. How does Ohio State respond, and can it solve the myriad deficiencies in time to continue its Big Ten dominance and make a playoff run?
