Why did Ohio State football lose its home opener to Oregon?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is 1-1 after falling to Oregon in its home opener 35-28. It’s the first time the Buckeyes have lost a regular-season game under Ryan Day dating back to his three games serving as the interim coach at the beginning of the 2018 season. That year is also the last time they lost any regular-season game, falling to Purdue 49-20 on the road. The loss also breaks a 22-game home winning streak with the last coming to Oklahoma — also a non-conference opponent — 31-16 in 2017. There are plenty of reasons why Ohio State lost.
