
The Oregon Ducks running game has been somewhat inconsistent during the Mario Cristobal era. But in two of the biggest games he has coached, the Ducks found a way to rack up a massive amount of yardage on the ground. During Saturday’s 35-28 win at Ohio State, the Ducks put up 269 yards rushing with running back CJ Verdell going for 161 yards and two touchdowns. In the 2019 Pac-12 Championship Game, Oregon rushed for 239 yards against Utah’s defense, ranked No. 1 in the country against the run and won, 37-15. The No. 4 Ducks (2-0), who host Stony Brook this Saturday, were able to confuse Ohio State’s defense for much of the game by using formations (including an unbalanced look that really did a number on the Buckeyes) and motions to create advantages.
