
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Thoughts from halftime Saturday night, as Ohio State leads Akron 38-7. * Kyle McCord started for the Buckeyes, the fourth true freshman in OSU history to start a game at quarterback, following Art Schlichter, Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller. The nerves were clear on the first drive, as McCord missed some throws, including a wide bubble screen pass to a receiver that was actually slightly backward and resulted in a 6-yard loss. It served as a reminder that C.J. Stroud, who is in his second year at Ohio State but barely more experienced than McCord, surely had nerves of his own while missing some throws high in his first three starts.
