
Ohio State has dismissed linebacker K’Vaughan Pope, who walked off the sideline during Saturday’s game vs. Akron and later sent a profane tweet. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day sent a short statement announcing Pope’s dismissal on Sunday: Pope, a senior linebacker walked off the field during the second quarter of Saturday’s 59-7 victory, apparently upset at his lack of playing time. After first being coaxed back to the sideline by Buckeye staffers, he was sent back to the locker room by coaches. Pope then voiced his displeasure on social media, first tweeting “good lucc to my teammates,” but also “fucc Ohio State” (sic). Day said after the game he was going to review the incident before deciding on Pope’s future. Pope, a Virginia native, was a four-star prospect in Ohio State’s 2018 recruiting class.
