
COLUMBUS, Ohio — I was skeptical about the 2021 impact of Steele Chambers as an Ohio State linebacker. The former running back did not fully commit to the linebacker room until preseason camp, at least per coach Ryan Day’s description. The Buckeyes were shifting their defense to feature only two inside linebackers, which did not seem like an immediate fit for Chambers’ skill-emerging skill set. Yet Chambers used extended snaps in the 59-7 victory over Akron to make his case for an increased role. He recorded five tackles (one for loss) with a pass breakup and assumed an active sideline-to-sideline approach. “I definitely feel at home right now,” Chambers said. “We’ve got a great group in the Silver Bullets. Everyone wants to do a job and that’s what I’m doing. If I make plays I end up making plays, but you can’t do it without the rest of the guys.”…
